If you love to make your own fresh breads, pie and pizza crusts and quickbreads but you're new to gluten free baking, you'll probably find the adjustment to gluten free cooking much easier than you originally thought it would be. Here, we offer a few easy tips for making fabulous homemade breads in your gluten free bread making machine.

Want a moister, chewier bread? Replace the oil and water in the recipe with butter and milk and, if you like a touch of sweetness, replace a small amount of the liquid with molasses and/or honey (this will also aid in yeast activation). To improve rising for yeast-based bread dough, warm your ingredients before mixing them and be sure to let the dough rise in a warm room or corner of the room where there is no draft. If possible, increase the amount of time in the rise cycle of your machine.

When the bread machine bake cycle is complete, turn out the loaf onto a clean cloth and allow it to cool in the open air. This will prevent the loaf from getting dewy or gummy in the machine. One final note: If you also use a regular bread machine, keep the gluten-containing products you use in that machine separate from your gluten-free machine to prevent cross-contamination.
